Part 12 of a Continuing Series…
Fairs and festivals offer a great opportunity to promote our A-B products and Consumer Awareness & Educational programs in an exciting and socially responsible way. I have developed different shows that can be performed in beer gardens, on a stage, or as a grounds act (street magic). They all offer something that’s fun, entertaining, memorable, and if need be, educational.
Over the years I have created ways to maximize my appearances at these types of events. For example, have you ever thought about creating a VIP Retailer reception/hospitality area where private shows can be performed for invited retailers (where legal)? This extends a local fair or festival to the retailer level and allows you to strengthen these relationships. The response to this gesture has always been fantastic.
Local media attention is easy to attract because I’ve been A-B’s corporate magician for over 30 years – which makes for a great human-interest story. A-B is the only corporation in the world that has a full time corporate magician. Once again, the promotion is widened beyond the actual boundaries of the fair or festival.
It should also be noted that performances can easily be adjusted to accommodate a changing audience dynamic. During the day fairs and festivals typically attract a strong family element. In the late afternoon and evening the crowd usually changes over to young adults.
So instead of focusing your marketing dollars exclusively on fair signage and sponsorships, think about applying some of these dollars towards entertainment that is specifically designed to broaden your brands impact. In the long run you’ll get more bang for the buck.
If you have a fair or festival coming up in your market, please discuss your ideas with me and I’ll help you develop a plan that meets your specific goals, objectives and budget.
“Magic Sells Beer” is an open forum for sharing ideas and thoughts about the A-B Master Illusionist Program. If you have any suggestions or ideas on how I can improve this program for fairs and festivals, please let me know in the comment section.
